Il Fiorile
is nestled in the green and tranquil area of the charming little
Castel Ratti village, near Borghetto Borbera in the Borbera
Valley, where the gentle countryside of the Lower Piedmont
region meets the first rocky spurs of the Ligurian Appennine Mountain
Range. It's
about 40 minutes by car from Genoa, one hour from Milan and one
and a half hours from Turin. The close vicinity to these three major
cities makes Il Fiorile the ideal choice for a full weekend of
relaxation and pleasure, to get away from the stress and hassle
of the big cities. The lovely gentle foothills of the woody Borbera
Valley, fascinate all nature-lovers, hikers, trekkers (including
horse-trekking as there are stables a couple of kilometers away),
and lovers of good living and good food. There are other activites
available if you don't feel like getting back to nature. There's
an aquatic funpark called Bolle Blu nearby at Borghetto Borbera,
dancing at the Babaissa disco, or you could spend a few hours shopping
at the famous outlet mall (McArthur Glen) at Serravalle
Scrivia. Keen cyclists are also catered for: they can follow
the traces of Fausto Coppi on the marked routes, visit his
birthplace at Castellania, or visit the Museum of Cycling
at Novi Ligure. As for fun for the kids, back at Il Fiorile, our
big old-fashioned lawn features a traditional see-saw, a cute tree-house
and a track for toy motorcars. The extensive woods which surround
the property provides a cooling breeze in the summer heat, and in
the autumn you can enjoy hunting for wild game and mushroom picking.
Each bedroom looks into the woods, as we believe that the day is
good when it starts off with a view of green disappearing into the
distance.
The
cuisine
The "a la carte menù" includes a choice of biological
products chosen specifically for vegetarians and for those guests
who may suffer from food allergies, covering a good selection of
pasta made from farro, kamut, rice and cornmeal.
Il Fiorile was mentioned in several of the most prestigious Italian
guidebooks, such as "Veronelli's Guide to Italian Restaurants",
the Italian Touring Clubs "Guide to Hotels and Restaurants"
and "Eating and Drinking in Piedmont and Surroundings".

Typical
ingredients
The
restaurant is very well-known in the area for the preparation of
traditional dishes using typical ingredients of our region, both
in their classic and contemporary forms of presentation. Particular
attention is given to Italian and transalpine-origin cheeses which
have won Il Fiorile a mention in the prestigious magazine "Caseus
International", which is dedicated to connoisseurs and
cheese lovers. Furthermore, the choice of salami, chosen with care
from regional products without preservatives or colouring, is the
pride of the restaurant. Cheese and salami tasting is matched with
fruit and vegetable preserves, jellies and honeys, offering a satisfying
experience not only to the palate but to the eye as well. >>
